  • Our Tiny Tots Class is designed with our youngest little movers in mind to help develop confidence, balance, and musicality whilst at the same time having lots of fun! We explore movement and music through basic dance, singing, playing instruments, etc. Parents/carers join in with their little ones for a fun experience. This class is a great little workout for everyone – always lots of smiles and giggles!

  • These classes are combined classes (studying all three genres) so that children get the skills and experience from each type/style of dance. Classes are structured and follow the  IDTA (International Dance Teachers’ Association) syllabus, which is based on the very latest teaching ideas and techniques. As part of our class we also enjoy exploring free expressive movement and fun exercises. The IDTA is one of the world’s leading dance qualification awarding bodies and a membership association for professional dance teachers. My classes are specifically structured to encourage children of all ages.

  • Contemporary / Modern Jazz is fun. You will learn to develop many different movements reaching to a broad choice of varying rhythms and musical styles. Classes are structured to begin to prepare the physical strength and flexibility required to demonstrate emotion through interpretation of any musical genre. One minute you may be dancing to the rhythm of a drum, the next to a funky jazz style. This class provides the opportunity to react and interact with other members and really dance to express your feelings.

  • If you enjoy singing, dancing and acting then this class is for you. We explore drama, through fun games, improvisation and other exercises; dance, through song routines and general movement to music; singing, by learning songs from favourite musicals and shows. A fun class that helps to develop confidence, skills and talent.

  • Children of all ages love our Zumba Kids® sessions – we learn some great dance routines and fun moves as well as playing dance/fitness games. What better way to have fun, improve fitness and make new friends?

  • What better way to keep fit than through dance? Dancing doesn’t make you feel like you are exercising – it’s designed to be fun. Simple “copy me” routines are used and  Zumba® adds a Latin flavour to our workout. These classes are much more fun than going on the treadmill or being shouted at in a Personal Training session! . For adult beginners and/or seniors we offer dance fit sessions incorporating “Zumba Gold®“. Any of my Adult Zumba sessions can be easily adapted to suit individual fitness and ability levels.

  • This class is structured to support the absolute beginner as well as those returning to ballet. Classes include a variety of exercises and syllabus work as well as learning simple enchainments and dances. All ages are encouraged to enjoy moving whilst improving fitness and strengthening those core muscles.

  • Classes are formulated to suit the absolute beginner, returners wising to develop their skills, the more experienced dancer who wants to enjoy tapping. Classes will be structured to include some syllabus work but are generally designed to be a fun learning experience for everyone.

  • Have fun learning dance routines and amalgamations to modern/popular and chart music. Develop and improve your dance skills and have fun with your friends whilst learning new steps and moves

  • Private dance lessons can be arranged subject to availability (including wedding or other special dances) – please contact me for further information.

  • I offer bespoke dance and dance fitness programs for schools and other groups in the Adelaide Southern Suburbs. These classes can include ANY of the dance styles/activities I offer and/or can be based on Zumba® or Zumba Kids®. This can be a one-off session or a set number of days/weeks. I can offer tailor made programs that bring intellectual and physical stimulation, energy and enthusiasm, positivity and support but most of all fun in learning how to dance. I can provide opportunities for everyone, regardless of age/ability, as we all have the potential to move and perform beautifully and can find enjoyment in such freedom.

For birthdays, celebrations or other special events I am happy to offer to come to a venue of your choice to provide a fun dance/Zumba session for any age group to suit your needs.

I work in South Australian independent and DECD schools and have full Police Clearance, full RAN Training and I am qualified as a First Aider.

If you wish to discuss how I can help you, please contact me.

To see all my Zumba® classes on offer please check out my Zumba® webpage All my fitness classes include dance fitness to modern and lively music to help everyone get moving with a smile!

About me

Dianne Jackson

I am extremely passionate about dancing, teaching dance and musical theatre. I have danced nearly all my life and take an enormous amount of pleasure in seeing someone find enjoyment and express themselves, through movement and dance.

I love encouraging people to dance and perform and get the same satisfaction from giving an 18 month old child their first lesson in movement as I do from helping someone improve their barre work, seeing adults tap dance for the first time, or from improving someone’s musical performance for stage work.

The success of my students, whether that be passing an exam, appearing on stage or learning a new step, is the greatest reward for me. I do my best to produce thinking dancers being aware of how dance can stimulate both intellectually and physically.

My teaching style is energetic, enthusiastic, positive and supportive. I believe in encouraging all members of my class  to achieve their individual potential. I believe in supporting the individual needs of each student in my class and find inventive and imaginative ways of helping them learn new steps, dances, songs, difficult techniques, etc.In teaching, I use the wealth of my experience to explain technique and  exercises, whilst at the same time I make students aware of common faults in posture, turnout, etc. When teaching I take into consideration personal abilities, styles and tastes and adapt my lessons accordingly.

I work hard to make my lessons fun so that my students can enjoy their lessons whilst learning. I encourage students to work in pairs, small groups, etc, to help learn from each other and to contribute to lessons as part of a group. I believe that everyone has the potential to move and perform beautifully and can find enjoyment in such freedom.

ANNUAL SHOW/RECITAL
The annual “Live Show” performance recital for families and friends takes place towards the end of each year.  This is a an important event in the DJTD calendar but participation is optional. There will be a dress rehearsal, one/two weeks prior to the show, at Moana Pioneers Memorial Hall. Everyone involved MUST attend the rehearsal if they wish to take part in the show.

For the annual Live Show, students will have a different outfit for each dance style/act which will be simple and affordable. For ballet/contemporary the cost will be approximately $110 (inc GST). To help parents with budgeting, costume deposits may be paid throughout the year (alternatively some parents prefer to pay this is in full at the beginning of Term 3). After the show the costume is yours to keep (headpieces/accessories are hired). All members of the dance school will need to purchase a dance school tshirt for the show. The current cost of the tshirt is approx $30 and this can also be worn in class or on the way to class throughout the year. The dance tshirt is also part of the uniform for all Musical Theatre students.

FAQs

Is there a uniform?

Yes, there is. See details below of the uniform for each class.

Ballet, Tap and Jazz classes: Female dance students wear a black sleeveless leotard and dance skirt, ballet pink tights (not flesh coloured) or white ankle socks in summer (tights are available to purchase from me). Pink ballet shoes and tan tap shoes. A pink or black cross-over dance top may be worn for warm-up and/or cooler weather. For Tiny Tots and Pre-School classes the students have the choice of wearing either black or pink leotards and skirts. Long hair should worn in a bun or tied back neatly. Male dance students wear black leggings and dance tshirt with black socks, black ballet shoes and black tap shoes.

Contemporary/Modern Jazz classes: Female dance students wear a black sleeveless leotard and dance shorts or black leggings. Bare feet or black jazz shoes. Dance tshirt or cross-over for warm-up and/or cooler weather.

Musical Theatre: Students wear black leggings or dance shorts, DJTD dance tshirt (available to purchase from me) and black canvas lace up shoes. DJTD zip-up Hoodies can be worn in class, these can be ordered in class.

Zumba Kids: Dance shorts or leggings, tshirt and sneakers. DJTD dance tshirts are available to purchase from me.

DJTD Zip-Up Hoodies can be ordered through me and can be worn to come to class and/or for warm-up. The DJTD zip-up hoodie can be worn in Musical Theatre lessons as part of the uniform for the class.

Can I do a trial class?

Yes, you can try the class before committing. It is important to find a class that suits your child and their needs. Come along and try the class before you decide to join us. For the trial class wear something comfortable that is easy to move around in. For ballet, tap and jazz classes ideally bring along a hard soled shoe for tap and soft shoes or bare feet (no socks – too slippy) for ballet.

Do parents watch classes?

Parents generally stay for the Tiny Tots classes as the children are very young. Parents are also encouraged to join in with their little one for support in this class. For Pre-School classes parents have the choice as to whether they stay or go. Some parents use this to help with the transition to school/kindy. In all other classes parents drop and go. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you would like to know more about your child’s progress.

What do I do if I miss class?

If you miss a class for any reason (ill health, holiday, etc) you are welcome to do a make-up class anytime during the year as long as you are an enrolled student.

Can I take photograph or video?

Photography or video recording during class is not permitted. However, I do not mind parents taking the odd ‘snap’ of their own child in class  – these are precious memories to treasure BUT video recording of dances is NOT permitted under any circumstances and is in breach of child protection laws and music copyright.

Will my child move up/change groups each year?

Generally, only for Tiny Tots and Pre-School move up/change groups. When Tiny Tots reach the age of approx 3.5 they are usually ready to progress to Pre-School classes. For Tiny Tots who are not quite ready for Pre-School Class but are ready to move up there is an Intro to Pre-School Class. Children do ballet, tap and Jazz in this class. When Pre-School children start school they are ready for more of a challenge and start with Level 1 classes. From Level 1 classes upwards the class will stay together each year as they progress as a group moving through the Levels (subject to numbers). There is no need for students to ‘move up’/change groups/days every year. However, some children advance more quickly than others so they might to move if they need more of a challenge than their current group.

How do I pay my fees?

An invoice will be sent to you via email. Payment can be made via cash or bank transfer (I do not have an eftpos machine.
